Church of the Nazarene currently invites applications for two full-time positions – Children’s Ministries Director and Finance Manager
Children’s Ministries Director
We’re a church family with roughly 1000 average attendance from three campuses on a typical Sunday morning with a staff of 24 working together to manage the ministry. In addition, we have two affiliated ministries – a community food pantry, clothes and furniture ministry called Hope Distributed as well as a Daycare ministry, Kid’s Harbor. There is an English-speaking campus as well as a Spanish-speaking campus in Harrisonburg, with an English-speaking campus in Elkton, Virginia and a burgeoning Spanish-speaking campus planned for Waynesboro, Virginia. The Children’s Ministry Director is based at the Harrisonburg Campus and leads and supports Children’s Ministry workers at all campuses.
The successful candidate will have the following qualifications: First, the individual will be a passionate lover and follower of Christ who is called to shepherd our church’s children. Appropriate credentialing with the Church of the Nazarene will strengthen a candidate’s profile. He or she will be a proven leader-shepherd of children with evident gathering and interpersonal skills as well as a high level of emotional intelligence. The person will be a lover and effective teacher of God’s Word, engaging dynamically with children and offering a captivating experience for them. Children should leave a service led by the Children’s Ministry Director excited about what they’ve just learned and experienced
Among other things, candidates will be asked about their understanding of Holiness, their experience shepherding and teaching children and their commitment to evangelism.

The surrounding area includes Rockingham County, an agri-business-based region with a population of 83,700. There are four universities/colleges in the area.

Finance Manager

In addition, we have two affiliated ministries – a community food pantry,
clothes and furniture ministry called Hope Distributed as well as a Daycare
ministry, Kid’s Harbor. There is an English-speaking campus as well as a
Spanish-speaking campus in Harrisonburg, with an English-speaking campus in
Elkton, Virginia and a burgeoning Spanish-speaking campus planned for
Waynesboro, Virginia. The Finance Manager is based at the Harrisonburg Campus
and serves all campuses.
The successful candidate will have the following qualifications: First, the
individual will be a passionate lover and follower of Christ who is an
experienced financial manager with a relevant undergraduate degree in a field
such as Accounting, Business, Management, etc. In the absence of such a degree,
the candidate may demonstrate commensurate experience and expertise. He or she
will demonstrate a thorough understanding of effective accounting practices as
well as an ability to grasp how a faith community in particular must steward
its resources. A CPA is not required but will strengthen a candidate’s profile.
Knowledge of budgeting, payroll and investments will be important. The position
serves as the Church’s Chief Financial Officer, Treasurer of the Church Board
and Benefits Manager.
