Genesis 25:29-34
“Once when Jacob was cooking some stew, Esau came in from the open country, famished. He said to Jacob, “Quick, let me have some of that red stew!I’mfamished!” (That is why he was also called Edom.) Jacob replied, “First sell me your birthright.” “Look, I am about to die,” Esau said. “What good is the birthright to me?” But Jacob said, “Swear to me first.”Sohe swore an oath to him, selling his birthright to Jacob. Then Jacob gave Esau some bread and some lentil stew. He ate anddrank, andthen got up and left.SoEsau despised his birthright.”
Who in their right mind would trade their birth right for a bowl of stew?
Your appetite’s alwaysscreamnow never later.
Ourappetite’ssayto trade the ultimate good for the immediate gratification of the moment.
It’stime to obey God, not your appetites.
Delayed obedience usually forfeits God ‘s best.
James 1:13-16
“When tempted, no one should say, “God is tempting me.” For God cannot be tempted by evil, nor does he tempt anyone; but each person is tempted when they are dragged away by their own evil desire and enticed. Then, after desire has conceived, it gives birth to sin; and sin, when it is full-grown, gives birth to death.Don’tbe deceived, my dear brothers and sisters.”
